Arzopa A1 MAX 17.3'' FHD Portable Monitor review

REVIEW – There was a time not too long ago when all I was looking for as displays for my computers was large screens, and I mean as large as I could afford or get my hands on. For me, that was the “in” thing for that time for my photo and video editing and for multitasking. These days I have been focusing on downsizing and into small and portable monitors that still provide a great experience. Most of the portable monitors that I have encountered are 15.6 inches which seems to be a common size, but now I get to test and review the bigger Arzopa A1 MAX 17.3” FHD Portable Monitor.

The Arzopa A1 MAX 17.3” FHD Portable Monitor is a 1080P FHD, HDR, IPS lightweight Computer Monitor that features HDMI and USB-C graphic/connectivity ports. Its design also includes dual speakers and it comes with a Smart Cover.

The Arzopa A1 MAX 17.3” FHD Portable Monitor is a plain design with some sleekness just like their other models. The front is mostly a screen with a small bezel on three sides and a larger bezel on the bottom that has the branding on it. On each side are the various screen controls and connections. The back features a carbon fiber look, with the model information in one corner. On the left side, the connections are a USB Type-C power input, a USB Type-C power/video input, and a mini HDMI input. On the right side, there is the power/return button, the OSD control, and the audio out/headphone port. The monitor comes with a Smart Cover that not only covers/protects the screen, but it connects magnetically to the back of the monitor and works as a stand.

The Smart Cover included with this monitor works very well for screen protection and as a stand. I use a separate metal stand because I always have lots of gadgets on my desk and the likelihood of the monitor getting bumped is very real. This monitor is Plug and Play. I have it connected using the HDMI to mini HDMI cable for my display. If you have a computer with a USB-C Power Delivery port then Arzopa indicates that you just use that cable both for power and display. The photo below how the monitor information is displayed in Windows 11.The built-in speakers also show up as an option for audio output. The OSD (On Screen Display) button offers the same standard options as most monitors:Despite not being 4K, this monitor is great for watching movies and YouTube videos, etc. Although it is 17.3, it is lightweight and would not be a problem as a part of your EDC gear. It is a great size for a standalone or add-on monitor and works great with my Adobe editing software. The speakers on portable monitors are not usually good, but the speakers on this monitor are better than most that I have heard.

Here are some of the screens from the EIZO Monitor Test that I performed. I did not find any defects:

The Arzopa A1 MAX 17.3” FHD Portable Monitor is simply a really nice monitor. The screen is surrounded by a thin bezel on 3 sides with a larger bezel on the bottom with the branding. It is lightweight and has all the connectivity I need. While it is not 4K, I don’t miss it because the size provides enough real estate for a very good experience. I am not a gamer, but it should be a fun monitor for many games. Well done Arzopa.
