Product Description
SFF-8482 SAS to SATA Adapter Cable with 15PIN Power Connector for Connecting SAS Hard Drives to SATA Motherboard Interfaces- Critical Compatibility Reminder (Must Read!)
Your motherboard must natively support the SAS protocol. Even if a SATA cable can be physically plugged in, you must connect it to a SAS port on your motherboard. Connecting to a standard SATA port will result in the hard drive not being recognized.
This adapter cable cannot work directly with consumer motherboards without a SAS port. Before use, please confirm that your motherboard or controller has an interface clearly marked "SAS". - Usage 1: Connect a SATA Hard Drive to a SATA Motherboard
Separate the data and power connectors of your SATA hard drive, then connect the data line to the motherboard's SATA port and the power line to your power supply directly.
Tip: Some motherboards require setting the BIOS to "AHCI Mode" beforehand. Choose "RAID Mode" if you intend to set up a RAID array. - Usage 2: Connect a SAS Hard Drive to a SAS Motherboard/Controller
Separate the data and power connectors of your SAS hard drive (SFF-8482 interface), then connect the data line to the motherboard/controller's SAS (SFF-8482) port and the power line to your power supply directly.
